'The Quiet Girl' made history at the Berlinale this year for being the first ever Irish Language film to be selected. Set in 1981 rural Ireland, a quiet neglected girl is sent away from her overcrowded, dysfunctional family to live with foster parents for the summer. She blossoms in their care but in their house, where there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers a painful truth. The film is based on the renowned story, 'Foster' by Claire Keagan.
